Unfolding Opportunities -2020

Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), Kolkata Chapter announced an enterprising webinar on Public Relations, Advertising and Event Management titled ‘Unfolding Opportunities 2020’. This webinar would be in the form of a live online interaction between the audience and industry experts in the field of Public Relations, Advertising and Event Management, followed by certification of deserving

participants.

The live interaction taking place on 5th September 2020, will see industry aficionados Ms. Sherina Kapany, a Tedx Speaker & Founder CEO, Sun Strategic Mumbai, Ms.Shaili Arjani, Associate Account Director, Six Degrees BCW, Mumbai and Mr.Amarpreet Singh, Brand Strategist, Ogilvy & Mather, Kolkata as panelists. Joining them in the discussion and moderating the session would be Head of Amity School of Communication, Amity University Kolkata and former journalist of NDTV and Star Network, Mr.  Rajesh Sisodia. Experts will discuss on current and emerging trends in the industry.

This is the 13th webinar among the series of webinars and live discussions that are being organized as an initiative from PRSI, Kolkata Chapter. Since the onset of the pandemic and after the prohibition of mass gatherings, PRSI, Kolkata Chapter has been actively organizing digital interactive sessions, bringing together trade experts, public relations and communication professionals and enthusiasts under the same platform. Another set of more than 15 webinars are planned in the coming 35 days. The topics of discussions have been diverse ranging from changes in communication during uncertain times, impact of Covid-19 pandemic on media and PR, rise in Digital PR and its augmentation, need for CSR fund utilization post the pandemic to name a few. Subjects related to philanthropy, entertainment, sports etc. have also been discussed.

Talking about this initiative, Mr. Soumyajit Mahapatra, Chairman, PRSI, Kolkata Chapter said: “Public Relations Society of India, Kolkata Chapter  has always endeavoured to promote the importance of Public Relations as a profession along with networking, exchange of ideas and development of communication strategies for all forms of business. To ensure that these forms of exercise were not hampered due to the Covid-19 pandemic, PRSI, Kolkata Chapter has utilised digital platforms to conduct a series of interactive session keeping in sync with the ‘New Normal’. We hope that these set of interactions will create a new arena in the future of public relations”.

Prof. Rajesh Sisodia, moderator of the webinar and Deputy Director & Head, Amity School of Communication, Amity University Kolkata, has the opinion that Media education needs more such endeavours. This will bring industry exposure to media students and its always better to hear the truth from the experts who have in real sense worked in the industry for long years and created a name for themselves.  Media students, professionals and media educators will certainly benefit from this unique webinar.

Prior to this, PRSI, Kolkata Chapter has been the pioneer behind the launch and success of Eastern India’s first and largest digital and social media conference ‘ENGAGE’ that has been taking place every year since its inception in 2012. The digital conference has been bringing together industry stalwarts to deliberate under one roof. The 9th edition is being planned totally on digital platform during 2020.

Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) is the national association of PR practitioners established in 1958 to promote the recognition of public relations as a profession and to formulate and interpret to the public the objectives and the potentialities of public relations as a strategic management function. The father-figure of professional PR practitioners in India, Kali H. Mody, was the founder President of PRSI from 1966 to 1969. The members of the society include public relations practitioners from Multinationals, Govt. Public and Private sectors, Academicians and independent PR consultants. The society is recognized as the national PR organization by the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), and is one of the founder members of the Global Alliance of Public Relations and Communications Management.
