SOCIAL MEDIA: A CURSED BLESSING

A blessing or a curse? The most asked and the most controversial question of all time. So, why not call it a blessing which is cursed. Social media, as much as it has helped in the development of human race, it is also responsible for the disgusting outcomes and humans have brought through social media.

Social media is a way of reaching people in a much more and comfortable way, because more than television and print media, the social media reaches people in a much more less time and is also very economic.

It also lets their users to have their own voices. Unlike television, or print or radio, social media does not require one to be a specialist to make their voice reach to an out there.

But, coming out to be a blessing, as years passed and with the reach of internet to almost everyone, it slowly turned into a curse. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter were supposed to be a medium of connecting to the world, but it eventually became a medium of attention and of course, cyber-crime.

Cyber crime, these days not only means hacking. It was become a way more vast and dangerous concept on a whole. Social media trolls and abusers have gained so much reach, that it is nearly impossible to let your reach out without facing the horrible criticism from these people.

They are nothing, but people like me and you, who enjoy pulling down people for their own sadistic pleasures. These are the people, who mainly don’t even have the guts to show their own identity, and can only speak behind the screen.

Some trolls are paid, and some are anonymous. These paid trolls usually follow the orders of highly influential people all the world, and come up only when there is an issue regarding to the ones who have bought them.

On the other hand, the candid or anonymous trolls are the ones, who are the complete judgemental and hypocrites of our society who cannot tolerate the fact that someone can actually have a voice of their own. From celebrities to common people, everyone has at least once been harassed by these online trolls.

These people, not only stay in within the boundaries of the comments, they even have the audacity to reach up to a person personally, using absolute abusive words, unethical languages and sexual harassment as well.

Using the social media is the right for all, and having a voice of their own is the fundamental right of every citizen. No matter how many online bullies, and trolls exist out here, at the end of the day, if your voice is strong enough, it will be able to break every wall and will reach to the thousand audience available.
