Mobile Phones: A Blessing Or A Curse

It has many names like, cell phone, mobile phone, smart phone etc. This is a portable device that access to cellular radio system. In simple devices we only access to make and receive the calls and send and receive the messages but smart phones were invented few years ago which have now became a part of life. In today’s world people spend most of the time with their cell phones. Everyone has mobile phone nowadays whether they are junior or senior citizen. More than one fourth of children’s worldwide are using mobile phones .This has been added in their daily routine.

Nowadays children spend maximum of their time with mobile. In early days children used to spend lots of time with their grandparents and they used to discover and learn new things and they used to listen stories and fairy tales which helped them to gain knowledge but nowadays they spend most of their time watching YouTube, senseless videos, dump shows and sometimes social networking which reduces the activeness of brain cells.

Teenagers use mobile phone in cheating during exam. Few students use mobile phone to make conference call before exam to exchange the notes and solving out doubts. Mobile phones are also problematic in school since they increase the level of distraction.

Social media like Facebook, WhatsApp, Tiktok, Like and gaming’s like PUBG , Free Fire, Bowling etc. change the lifestyle of children and this applications indirectly force them to stay in and avoid playing outside which let the children not doing any physical activity. Even there are things which are age restricted on social media sites and most of the student sees those things which bring negative effect on their mind. Student are spending most of the time on mobile phone chatting with their friend, scrolling feeds, posting, and clicking selfies and so on. Majority of the students falls asleep with mobile on their hand.

Mobile phone has many disadvantages:-

• Mobile Phone can cause skin diseases especially hand skin, cancer and eye problems etc. And a lot of other diseases can be effect the body by its high usage.
• The biggest disadvantages are for students they have very high loss of their studies. It is Because of using the mobile phones. And at the end of the study session they got very bad results and many of them got fail in class room.
• It may cause of your death, some peoples use it during driving, crossing roads, and crossing rail lines and also in metro stations which may cause of accident. Or using mobiles in planes can dismiss the wireless system and that may cause of plane crash.
• This is the most important point, if you have your personal images, videos or files etc. in your device. Other peoples like hackers can easily access your images and videos. In android mobile phone it is easy to copy data from one device to another but in IOS operating system have little safety. Not only data your bank details can also be stolen it may cause you a huge loss.
• It’s also effects the romantic life of couples also, Couples nowadays spent a lot of time chatting or in call with each other which destroys the love for each other and they don’t value each other’s time.
• Using too much of mobile phones leads to insomnia.

Despite of much negative impact there are few positive sites also.

Advantages of Mobile:-
• Nowadays students tend to be stressed up by many things. Their mobile phones pack a lot of entertainment in the form of games, cartoons, and many more entertaining things. No matter the age of the student, there is always something entertaining on their mobile phone. For a parent, knowing that your elementary school student is watching cartoons on mobile gives you peace of mind, as you will know they are up to no mischief.
• Before there were cell phones widely available, the only way that you could call for emergency services was from a direct landline or a car phone. That meant you would need to know where the nearest phone booth or emergency placement was in every neighbourhood to ensure that you could contact the authorities when help was necessary. Now that most people own one, it is possible to call for help at any time if you have a signal available.

Hence, my conclusion states that mobile phone is curse to life. Especially for teenagers and students as they take up their life from real world and take them to an imaginary virtual world.

SHILLONG: SCOTLAND OF INDIA

While the human race is locked inside the house to fight COVID 19, a pandemic which held the entire world hostage in unprecedented and unparalleled manners, while one is even debarred to visit neighborhood milk booth and one is prohibited to cross over to another district in a same state, every piece of literary work is an expression of paranoia in one way or other. Nation is facing most harsh form of lockdown, and consequent toll on human, psychological as well as physiological, is pushing to the limit of tolerance. At this crossroad in life, picturesque lush green meadow, hills covered with pine trees, fresh air and country roads driven me nostalgic and take me far away from new normal, every time I remembered of Shillong. ‘Scotland of India’ title it rightfully defended perched in East Khasi Hill district of Meghalaya, Shillong lies at north eastern corner on Indian Map. Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya. Entomology of the word Meghalaya stands for ‘abode of the clouds’ in Sansk…
