Amity University Kolkata’s first Convocation was a grand event at the ultra modern Convention centre, Newtown, Kolkata. Eminent Industrialist Sanjeev Goenka of RP-Sanjeev Goenka Group was conferred Honorary DLit while Padmashree Dr. Maman Chandy (Tata Cancer Hospital) was conferred Honorary DST. Dignitaries were awarded by Founder President and Visionary educationist Dr. Ashok K Chauhan and Chancellor of the Amity University Kolkata, Dr. Atul Chauhan.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan said,“I am happy to see the glowing faces of our students. This is the most important day of a student’s life. At Amity University, we want to see each student of ours as a success story. We expect and this has been proved already that every student of Amity University is unique and is contributing substantially for the growth and development of the society. At Amity University, we give equal importance to studies and values and sanskars. Amity University aims to serve the nation through imparting value based quality education to all.”
In his acceptance speech, visionary leader and Industrialist, Sanjeev Goenka remarked, “ Convocation is always the most important day in the life of a student. I would like to share with students that success in life comes only when we are focused and hardworking. Failures come and go but we need to stand like a rock. We need to be determined to our goal. But always remember, we should first try to become a good human being.”
On the occasion, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhay appreciated the efforts made by the students to achieve success. Convocation was attended by more than 1500 students and 3000 parents. Many brilliant students were awarded Medals and degrees. Eminent scholars, guests from different walks of life graced the occasion. About 1500 students from their Alma Mater are there to one of the most significant days of their lives, accompanied by their parents.
The Amity University, Kolkata, is a success story during the last five glorious years of its existence in the city. All this has been possible because of the support we have received from our well-wishers that helped us extend quality education and intellectual and emotional growth. Besides, it has also helped us foster stronger, healthier and more caring relationships with each other.
