 Kolkata is India’s second largest city and is among one of the four metropolitan cities of India. Kolkata is also known as Cultural Capital of India.
Kolkata is the state capital of West Bengal. Kolkata was earlier known as Calcutta. It is a city made by the East India Company it was the capital of British India from 1773 to 1911.Kolkata is also nick named as the “City of Joy.”
 
Kolkata is one of the largest tourist destinations in India; one can experience and explore all the colours of life in this city of joy. There are many tourist attractions also and today I am going to brief few of them. Kolkata is also known as heritage place of India, many people say if you want clean city go to Delhi, if you want rich city go to Mumbai, if you want techy city go to Bangalore but if you want city with a soul and people with a heart go to Kolkata. Once you are in Kolkata it is a sin not to visit the Victoria Memorial.
 
Victoria Memorial

Victoria Memorial is one of the most elegant and grand monuments in the heart of Kolkata. It is located near the luscious green Maiden; the memorial was built between 1906 and 1921 in the memory of Queen Victoria’s 25 years reign in India. It is a vast white structure made of marble is a cynosure of all eyes and a respite for the tired feet. The Memorial is situated on 64 acres of land with the building covering 338 ft by 228 ft.

Lord Curzon, who was then the Viceroy of India, suggested setting up a stately memorial in the honour of the late Queen on her death in January 1901 to the public. The construction duty was given to Sir William Emerson, President of the British Institute of Architects, to design and plan the building and entrust the construction work to the very famous Messrs. Martin & Co. of Calcutta. The Prince of Wales, King George V, laid the foundation stone on January 4, 1906 and it was formally opened to the public in 1921.

Howrah Bridge

Howrah Bridge is a cantilever bridge over the Hooghly River in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. More than 90,000 vehicles go through Howrah Bridge. It is a Proud for Kolkata, and it’s also a famous tourist destination.  Howrah bridge was constructed in 1939 but it was opened to traffic from 1943. Howrah Bridge, the fourth busiest Cantilever bridge across the globe situated on the Hooghly River and interlinks the eastern bank of Howrah to the western bank of the Kolkata city. Howrah bridge is not only a single attractive bridge in Kolkata there are two more bridges known in name, Vidyasagar Setu and the Vivekananda Setu that are situated at different points over the Hooghly river. These bridges acts as an important symbol of Kolkata.
 
Nicco Park

Nicco Park is also known as Disneyland of West Bengal, It is the famous tourist destination for kids, and not only kids adults also love to visit this place repeated times. The 40-acre amusement park came into existence in 1991. Nicco Park is more popularly known as Jheel Meel. It is loaded with ultimate fun and entertainment destination. It draws huge crowds on the weekends, as it serves as the perfect place for relaxing mind, body and soul. It takes you into the world of fantasy and imagination. It provides wide choices of fun rides to choose from. To name a few, we have the Toy Train, Cable Car, Tilt-a-Whirl, Water Chute, Water Coaster, Flying Saucer, Pirate Ship and Moonrake, etc, any many other things it is filled with full of surprises.
