SHAH JAHAN REGENCY: Directed by Srijit Mukherjee, Shah Jahan Regency is one of the most beautiful movies that has ever come up in the Bengali Film Industry. It is based on the popular novel, Chowrangee written by Mani Shankar Mukherjee. This film, with its huge star cast has one of the most talented lot of actors like Abir Chatterjee, Parambrata Chatterjee, Anjan Dutta, Anirban Bhattacharya,Swastika Mukherjee, Mamata Shankar and many of the talented faces of the industry. A story of love, passion, heart break and heritage, Shah Jahan Regency is that one film which you must watch.
BELASHESHE: Belasheshe means, ‘End of the day’. This movie is directed by Shibaprashad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy. This movie is the ultimate one that one surely has to watch. This movie describes to you all over again. The concept of relations, compromises, sacrifices, and habits have been well defined in the movie. An old couple, who are on the verge of getting divorced, are suggested to spend some time together by the judges. Based on the decision, they all go to a family trip to Shantiniketan, where both of them are being given a different house, and are being watched by the other members. Sounds a little disturbing, but the entire process redefines love to you. And is another must watch.
CHOKER BALI: Rabindranath Tagore, in his life wrote a number heartbreaking novels, out of which Choker Bali remains to be the most beautiful and heartbreaking novels of all time. Directed by the astonishing director, late Rituporno Ghosh, Chokher Bali is a treat to the eyes. Starring the gorgeous Aishwariya Rai Bacchan as the protagonist, this film portrays the pain of love and rejection. It defines how love turns into something so passionate that one can even forget the difference between what is right and what is wrong. It defines that love is just not marriage. It is not living in the same room, or sharing the same bed. It is more beyond that and is very painful and lonely. This movie will indeed bring tears in your eyes and will forever make you fall in love with Tagore.
PRAKTON: The word Prakton means ‘the past’. The movie is again a love story between two people who have met years after getting their divorce. This movie is yet another masterpiece directed by the popular director duo Shibaprashad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy. This movie is a true emotional rollercoaster and will actually make you believe that if you have once fallen for someone and if your love is true, no matter how horrible things get, no matter if you are with someone else. You will forever love that person. If the love is true, no matter how distanced you are, you can never unlove that person. It is next to impossible to even forget them. They just stay in your memory and a part of you is always left with them too. Love and the pain of separation is well shown in the film.
BHOOTER BHABISHYAT:
Shifting from the genre of love, this movie is one of the funniest movies to have ever released in the Bengali Film Industry. Directed by the debut director, this movie will actually give you a major stomach ache by laughing your heart out. The plot is very unusual which shows the very tough conditions of the ghosts of Calcutta to survive in the modern world when all the heritage buildings are being broken and instead huge sky-scarpers, malls, theatres are being built. This movie is about how a bunch of ghosts, from different eras were living peacefully in an old mansion when they faced major threat by a promoter who was willing to break the house down and build a shopping mall instead.
This is indeed a must watch for every person ever.
